How to cure old conflicts in the new year

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” (Prov. 11:2)

When you are tempted to raise your voice, or to speak critically to your spouse, or to accuse him or her of some wrong that you are certain they committed against you, STOP, WAIT, AND PRAY. Why? Because there is always something you don’t know. Our pride makes us certain that we are right, and the other is wrong, but humility tells us to seek God’s wisdom before we speak. Often there is something–some attitude, some word, some action that you may have done to contribute to the negative atmosphere in your home. God will show you. God respects humility and he will give you wisdom. You will find the root so that you can apply the truth.  So learn to STOP, WAIT, AND PRAY because it’s hard to take back what you say.
